Three people reported injured after a stabbing attack at Leytonstone tube station, Metropolitan Police treating the incident as an act of terrorism.

At least one man was attacked at by a knifeman at Leytonstone tube station, London. A suspect had threatened people with a knife and then had been taken into custody, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson reported. At least one victim had sustained serious injuries.

"Police were called at 7:06pm [GMT 07:06] on Saturday, December 5, to reports of a stabbing at Leytonstone underground station. The male suspect was reportedly threatening other people with a knife,” a police spokesman said, as cited by the media.

“We are aware of one man having sustained serious stab injuries. We await details of any other injuries," the police spokesman said.

​According to eyewitnesses reports the attacker shouted "this is for Syria" before being tasered by Police.

​Metropolitan Police also reported that they are treating this as a terrorist incident.

​On Tuesday a nation-wide Sky Data Snap survey revealed that over half of London residents feel less safe because of the airstrikes that the United Kingdom started launching against Islamic State (Daesh) radicals in Syria on Thursday.

An amendment blocking the launch of UK airstrikes in Syria was defeated in the British parliament on Wednesday. Later, 397 British lawmakers approved the extension of anti-Daesh airstrikes to Syria.

The United Kingdom has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh positions in Iraq as part of a US-led coalition since September 2014.

Daesh is a radical Sunni group, prohibited in many countries including Russia.
