MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Metro reopened in the Belgian capital early Wednesday, Brussels public transport operator STIB announced, with schools also expected to welcome students after a four-day break.
The underground transport service was launched at 6 a.m. local time (5:00GMT), although only 35 out of 69 stations were open. Metro will be open until 10 p.m.
The Belgian capital remains on the highest security alert as police and troops patrol the streets.
Brussels was put on lockdown last Saturday after security launched manhunt for suspects allegedly involved in the Paris terror attacks that killed 130 and injured hundreds on November 13. Belgium has charged five people in connection with attacks, and two are still at large.
