KIEV (Sputnik) — Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Monday that Ukraine would respond likewise to Russia’s upcoming embargo against Ukrainian food products which could be imposed starting January 1.
"I want to clearly note with assurance that Russian threats on imposing embargoes against Ukrainian goods on January 1 would get a similar, identical response from the Ukrainian government," Yatsenyuk said.
On January 1, Russia is expected to ban agricultural and food imports from Ukraine if Kiev implements a free-trade zone with the European Union through the Association Agreement. By implementing the agreement, Kiev would fall into the same category as the European Union, against which Russia has already implemented countermeasures against EU sanctions.
