Greece to Boost Coffers by Taxing Citizens' Overseas Property

Athens plans to extend the single property tax (ENFIA) to the real estate that Greek nationals own overseas, Greece’s Deputy Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis said Wednesday.

ATHENS (Sputnik) — Speaking at a real estate market conference in Athens, Alexiadis said his ministry was aware of 3,200 properties in London that belonged to Greek citizens, according to the Protothema newspaper.

Starting in 2016, all buying and selling of real estate in Greece will be conducted electronically. A commercial reevaluation of property prices is scheduled for next fall, he added.
