False documents were hidden in letters and parcels addressed to the reception centers for refugees and to individuals.
Asylum-seekers need documents from their country to get asylum in Europe, but most of them come into the country without any ID.
The news agency reported that a significant number of ID documents sent from Iraq and Turkey turned out to be fake. In recent weeks, the number of forged documents from abroad has dramatically increased. For example, Finnish customs has found 50 fake passports on Thursday alone and seized more than 500 fake documents recently.
The increasing number can be partly explained by the rapidly growing influx of refugees to the country. Around 50,000 refugees are expected to enter Finland by the end of the year, rather than 30,000 as previously estimated.
