MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The formal inquiry will likely include a brief investigation with the participation of several animal welfare groups, including Battersea Dogs Home and Blue Cross, the BBC reported.
"Sometimes there are cases which we feel they shouldn't have prosecuted on. Other times we would like to know why they didn't prosecute," Neil Parish, a Conservative lawmaker, told the broadcaster.
According to Parish, the examination will assess the RSPCA’s previous cases, as well as its purpose and structure.
The RSPCA is the biggest prosecutor of animal cruelty cases in the United Kingdom.
In 2014, the RSPCA filed lawsuits over animal cruelty against some 1,132 people in England and Wales, gaining the government about $77.5 million in penalty judgments, according to charity estimates.
