ATHENS (Sputnik) – Alekos Flambouraris, a close ally of Syriza party leader Alexis Tsipras who expects to be reappointed to the country's Cabinet after Tsipras is sworn in as prime minister this afternoon, stressed that the participation of Russian investors in the Greek economy would be fair and regulated by Athens.
"Our terms are: the use of public property with dignity, with the majority interest belonging to the Greek people. But of course, Russians will also be receiving profit," he told Sputnik, adding "we will not sell out our treasures."
Tsipras’ Syriza party defeated its key rival, New Democracy, in Sunday’s parliamentary elections after seeking a renewed mandate for its austerity policies as part of a deal with international money lenders. It has confirmed the formation of a coalition with former political partner, the Independent Greeks party (ANEL).
