Romanian Prime Minister Accused of Graft
Ponta is charged with three separate counts of graft, the Romanian anti-corruption agency DNA announced in July. Some of his property has been seized.

The investigation that led to the charges against Ponta was launched eight years ago.

Ponta repeatedly denied any wrongdoing after he was charged.

Ponta announced his resignation as leader of the ruling Social Democratic party in July, saying he needed to prepare his defense, but stressed he would continue to serve as prime minister.
