"The president signed a decree on anti-Russian sanctions. The text will soon appear on the [presidential] website," Svyatoslav Tsegolko wrote in his twitter blog.
The expanded version of the list was approved by Ukraine's Security and Defense Council on September 2.
"The president announced that the restrictive measures are now targeting more than 400 individuals and 90 entities responsible for crimes against our country," Poroshenko's press service said.
Several high-ranking Russian individuals, such as Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov were sanctioned.
Greek, Italian, Israeli and Spanish political figures and journalists were also named on the list.
Sanctioned entities include Russian arms manufacturer Almaz-Antey, the airlines Aeroflot and Transaero, and several banks, such as Gazprombank.
According to a news release on the president’s official site, the sanctions will be in effect for one year.
“Under the decision, sanctions will be imposed for one year,” the news release reads.
Moscow’s relations with Kiev deteriorated greatly amid the crisis in Ukraine. After Crimea's reunification with Russia in March 2014, which Kiev did not recognize, Ukraine imposed a number of restrictions on Moscow. Western nations have also imposed several rounds of sanctions against Russia, targeting its economy.
Russia has repeatedly denied any involvement in the Ukrainian crisis and has responded to the countries that introduced the sanctions with a one-year food import ban, which was extended for an additional year in June.
