I wonder if Hungary got it's idea for a razor wire fence from the endless desires of America to build bigger walls with Mexico?

Their reasoning is as follows: razor wire is notorious for causing lacerations which carry a high risk of infection. This type of wire is used to secure prisons or military facilities but it should not be employed against people looking for shelter.

Berlin-based Mutanox, said to be one of the leading companies in Germany, cited this very reason for its decision.
"[Razor] wire is designed to prevent criminal acts, like an intrusion, from taking place. Fleeing children and adults are not criminals," the company's spokesman told Deutsche Welle.

Another German company, which remains anonymous at this point, submitted an offer but did not make any deliveries. "Children, caught in the wire, are a disgrace," the company's CEO said.

Hungary has recently toughened its border control amid an overwhelming flow of refugees from the conflict-ridden Middle East and Africa, who are trying to enter Germany and other prosperous European states. Earlier this week, Budapest deployed around 9,000 soldiers to its southern border with Serbia and introduced three-year prison terms for illegal border crossings.
