"The meeting of the ‘seven’ took place. [Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie] Jaresko asked the finance ministers of the ‘seven’ to finance the purchase of the Russian gas for the winter period," the source said.
"No decisions have been made," the source stressed.
According to the source, Jaresko met with her G7 colleagues in Ankara.
The last round of gas talks between Ukraine, Russia and the European Commission took place on June 30, a day before the second quarter deliveries under a $100 per 1,000 cubic meters discount were due to expire.
The talks brought no results and Ukraine ceased all purchases of gas from Russian energy giant Gazprom because Kiev and Moscow were unable to reach an agreement on gas deliveries for the third quarter of 2015 even despite Russia's proposal on a new gas price discount.
In August, Ukraine, which has been suffering from the economic crisis caused by an armed conflict between government forces and militias in the country's southeast, announced that Kiev expected to receive a foreign loan for winter gas supplies by the end of October.
