MOSCOW (Sputnik) – At least 300 migrants escaped on Friday from a refugee camp near the Hungarian town of Roszke on the country's border with Serbia, local police said.
According to an official statement, police are taking measures to prevent the escaped migrants from traveling further.
All roads from the area have been closed in an operation to avoid further incidents, the Hungarian police statement added.
Hungary, among other European countries, has been struggling to cope with the massive migrant crisis that has hit the region, as tens of thousands of refugees try to enter the bloc, fleeing violence in their home countries, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.
