MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The refugees, aged from 16 to 20 and mostly Afghan nationals, were found suffocating inside the vehicle after it was stopped by police in Vienna on Tuesday, the statement on the Interior Ministry’s website said.
A 30-year-old Romanian driver tried to flee the scene but was later caught and arrested by the police, according to the ministry.
The incident follows last week’s discovery of an abandoned truck with the bodies of 71 undocumented migrants on an Austrian highway.
