BERLIN (Sputnik) — The farmers are discontent with the prices for dairy products, which are below production costs and have fallen dramatically in recent months to levels last seen in 2009, when Europe had been hit by a major economic crisis, according to the association's representatives.
Last week, a European Commission spokesperson stated that the profitability of dairy products in the European Union was decreasing amid overproduction and a Russian embargo on the import of food products from members of the bloc.
