Syrian Children Rescued From Minivan in Austria Disappear From Hospital

Three Syrian children and their families who had been rescued from a minivan in Austria disappeared from the hospital they had been treated in, media reported Sunday citing the police.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the BBC, the children were rescued from the minivan which was carrying 26 migrants. The authorities stopped the vehicle near the Austrian-German border and arrested its driver. The children were hospitalized with dehydration.

The British broadcaster reported that the children and their families had disappeared on Saturday. Authorities believe they may have attempted to enter Germany.

The minivan was found just a day after a truck, carrying the remains of 71 migrants, was found abandoned on an Austrian highway. The vehicle had reportedly departed from Budapest on Wednesday.
