MOSCOW (Sputnik) — “We want to keep the United Kingdom part of the European Union, and we will carry on respective negotiations with [British Prime Minister] David Cameron,” Merkel said.
Cameron has pledged to hold a referendum on the United Kingdom’s possible exit from the European Union before the end of 2017.
Cameron has promised, however, to make an attempt to revise the United Kingdom’s relations with the European Union before staging a vote. London wants Brussels to grant member state governments more control in defining migration policy, among other conditions.
