On August 19, the Magyar Nemzet newspaper reported that the United States planned to move 50 military vehicles to Hungary, including four M1 Abrams tanks, as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The drills, part of an ongoing series, support NATO allies in a response to what the West considers to be Russian aggression in Ukraine.

MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — The United States has not requested to place its military vehicles at a base in the Hungarian north-western town of Tata, Hungary's government told Sputnik on Monday, denying earlier media claims.

"The Ministry of Defense has not received any official request from the United States for deployment of military hardware in Hungary," the International Communications Office of the Hungarian Government said.

NATO reinforced its military presence in the Baltic region following the April 2014 beginning of a conflict in southeastern Ukraine. Since that time nearly 2,500 US Army soldiers have arrived in the region.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that NATO's expansion toward the country's western frontier was a threat to national and global security.
