The Ukrainian branch of Transparency International said Monday it would sue the Ukrainian government for fraud during the establishment of a national anti-corruption commission.

KIEV (Sputnik) — Earlier this year, Ukrainian authorities discussed steps for establishing a National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) with the country’s Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko, saying it would likely become operational by mid-July.

"Transparency International Ukraine…urges the court to recognize the illegal actions of Deputy Minister of the Cabinet Roman Greba at the Secretariat of the Cabinet during the NAPC elections which took place on May 17, 2015, and to cancel the election results and…reelect the candidates," the press release read.

The organization also demands "transparency, which happened to disappear at an early stage of the NAPC formation."

Earlier in July, Transparency International released a report saying Ukraine had not succeeded in its fight against corruption.

Transparency International court proceedings against the Ukrainian government are scheduled for July 15.

Transparency International is a non-governmental organization that monitors and publicizes corporate and political corruption cases in international development. The organization has representation in more than 100 countries, with an international secretariat in Berlin, according to it's website.
