MOSCOW (Sputnik) UK police are just “skimming the surface,” when it comes to cybercrime, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan Howe said Saturday.

"I think we're only skimming the surface… A lot of it is about stealing money and scamming, sometimes it's about stealing an idea from a business,” Howe said in an interview with children hosted by Sky News.

According to Howe, some 300 officers are already working on the cybercrime direction, with another 200 joining the team next year.

Howe stressed that although it is extremely important to address cybercrime, there are also other issues UK police must deal with amid budget cuts, such as countering terrorism and armed robberies.
