US ‘Obsession’ With Arming Ukraine Comes at Expense of Economic Assistance
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The failure of Ukraine’s government to sanction officials for misconduct has created an atmosphere of impunity in the country, the US State Department said in its 2014 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices issued on Thursday.

“The government generally failed to take adequate steps to prosecute or punish most officials who committed abuses, resulting in a climate of impunity,” the report said.

Ukraine ranked 142 out of the 175 countries in the Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index for 2014.
