On Friday, WISE Up Action, a Welsh, Irish, Scottish, English grassroots solidarity network for Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning and Julian Assange, are holding a vigil outside the Ecuadorian embassy in Kensington, London — just behind Harrods.

WISE Up Action told Sputnik in a statement: "We thank Ecuador for their brave stand in protecting his life and work. For three years he had no sunlight but with his WikiLeaks work has been throwing light on the darkest corners of governments and big business.

"We send a call out to all individuals, human rights groups and organizations, members of the public, to join us in marking the anniversary, showing solidarity and thanking brave Ecuador for protecting Julian Assange's human rights by granting him political asylum," a spokesman said.
US Extradition Fears
Assange fears being extradited to the United States if he goes to Sweden, and face interrogation over publication of secret documents by WikiLeaks. Hopes of a breakthrough to the impasse rose when the Swedish prosecutors said they would be prepared to interview Mr Assange inside the Embassy.
However, a Swedish prosecutor this week cancelled a planned interview with Assange at the embassy in London. Assange said Sweden's director of public prosecutions, Marianne Ny had led his lawyers to believe that an appointment to take a statement from him would take place on Wednesday June 17.
"Some formal approval has not come, and it is unclear when the matter can be resolved," Ny wrote to Assange's lawyers. "It is therefore no longer necessary to carry out investigative measures this week."

Assange, an Australian citizen, has been unable to leave Ecuador's embassy since claiming asylum there on June 19, 2012. Even if Sweden drops the investigation, he faces arrest by British police for jumping bail granted while the UK courts considered a European arrest warrant issued by Sweden.
