KIEV (Sputnik) – Negligence is the most likely reason behind the massive fire at an oil depot near Kiev, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said Tuesday.
“With 80-90 percent certainty we can say it was production negligence. Mistakes were likely made by employees during the technological process and an ignition took place,” Avakov told reporters.
A fire erupted at a BRSM-Nafta oil depot late on Monday evening and a blast was reported on Tuesday morning. At least one person has died and 14 have sustained injuries.
According to the minister, the fire will be put out within the next 12 hours.
