KIEV (Sputnik) – A huge fire at an oil depot outside Kiev that has been raging since Tuesday morning and spread into a nearby forest has been detained, the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry said.
“As of 2:30 p.m. [11:30 GMT], the spread of the fire into the [nearby] forest has been detained,” the Emergencies Ministry’s press service said.
It has been reported earlier that Russian Emergencies Ministry offered its help in detaining the fire.
A fire erupted at a BRSM-Nafta oil depot late on Monday evening and a blast was reported on Tuesday morning. According to the latest information, 16 oil cisterns, each containing around 900 cubic meters of fuel, are ablaze. A fire in one cistern was extinguished earlier in the day. At least one person has died.
