The election results cannot leave Europeans indifferent, raising a lot of questions and concerns among EU politicians, the German newspaper reported.

UK Should Leave EU Unless Cameron Ensures Bloc's Reform – London Mayor
After the victory of the ruling Conservative Party, European leaders are anxious about two issues: whether David Cameron will be able to keep Britain solid and prevent the breakaway of Scotland, and whether his planned referendum on Britain's membership in the EU would lead to  the country’s withdrawal from the union.

Last year, only a slight majority of Scots – 55% – voted for Scotland to stay in UK, while 45% supported the idea of Scottish independence. The sensational victory of the Scottish National Party (SNP) in the latest elections may again raise the question of independence on the agenda. The SNP won 56 of 59 seats in the Scottish Parliament, becoming the third largest party in Westminster.

The re-election of Prime Minister David Cameron has caused Europeans to prepare for a worst case scenario. Cameron is planning to organize a referendum at the end of 2017, where people will decide whether the UK remains in the EU or not.

Until then, he is going to negotiate new conditions of his country’s membership in the EU with the other 27 member states and the European Commission. Cameron is seeking to limit the Commission's intervention in national affairs and strengthen decision-making powers of the national government.
