MADRID (Sputnik) — Dozens of artists from different countries gathered for an artistic event in Madrid on Saturday, commemorating victims of the 2014 massacre in Ukraine's southern city of Odessa.
"We met to remember the tragic events of May 2, 2014. A year later, the perpetrators still have not been punished. In this way, artists, musicians, poets, actors, the people of art, express their condemnation of these terrible events," one of the event organizers, Vera Rodionova, told Sputnik.

The organizers plan to hold more events in Paris and Berlin, then probably in other European cities, according to Rodionova. The permanent exhibition will be eventually placed in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

Commemorative events were also held in Barcelona and Valencia.
On May 2, 2014, at least 48 anti-government protesters died and over 200 were injured during clashes with pro-Kiev radicals and Right Sector militia and in a blaze while being blocked in the trade unions building in Odessa.

Despite Russia's calls to conduct a prompt and transparent investigation into the Odessa tragedy, Ukraine authorities still have not completed the inquiry.
