MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United Kingdom's Independence party (UKIP) has requested a public apology from the Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) over unfair comments targeting the party, the Local news publisher reported Monday.
A Sveriges Television reporter called UKIP an "extreme right-wing populist party" while speaking about UK Prime Minister David Cameron"s tougher policy on immigration.
After the incident, the Swedish Broadcasting Authority launched an investigation and concluded that that the broadcaster had not been impartial. SVT rejected the complaint, claiming the reporter did not break rules on impartiality.
In May 2014, UKIP leader Nigel Farage said his party had repeatedly been stigmatized as "racist," but the politician denied the allegations saying that UKIP's desire to limit immigration in the United Kingdom does not mean that its members are racist.
