Ukrainian President Poroshenko and Prime Minister Yatsenyuk are pitiable and weak figureheads doing just what their foreign masters tell them, says Czech political analyst and journalist Tereza Spencerová.

Ukraine Continues to Spend Billions on Arms Despite Debt Crisis
Ukraine per se is no more; the government of President Petro Poroshenko and Arseniy Yatsenyuk has little impact on the affairs of state, Tereza Spencerová said in an interview carried by the Parlamentnílisty.cz. news portal.

“To stay in power and on the receiving end of the billions of dollars expected to flow in from the West, they need to bide for  time, that’s why they are making all kinds of tricks and self-assured statements… These people just shouldn’t be taken seriously because they will eventually do exactly what they are told from the outside,” Spencerová added.

Pitiable and weak politicians, “they are running a bankrupt country, beefing up the army they have neither money nor people to keep, and threatening Russia with full-blown war which they hope to win,” Spencerová said. In her opinion all this means that the “Kiev leadership needs to be institutionalized and if the West continues supporting them, the situation will keep going downhill.”

What really matters now, Tereza Spencerová continued, is whether the hawks in the US Congress on the one side, or Paris and Berlin on the other, eventually prevail.

Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande staked their political clout on the Minsk accords and will by no means let Poroshenko or anybody else to ruin their image, reputation and business ties with Russia, Tereza Spencerová concluded.
