MOSCOW (Sputnik) — France's BEA (Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety) has launched a safety investigation into a Germanwings Airbus A320 crash in the French Alps Tuesday, bureau's spokesperson told Sputnik.
"We are launching a safety investigation right now. So our teams are right now preparing to go to the accident site," Martine Del Bono said.
It is too early to give any peace of information concerning the flight and confirmed that Airbus is sending technical advisers to the crash site, she added.
Earlier in the day, the low-cost Germanwings airline confirmed that 144 passengers and six crew members were on board the plane, en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf, when it crashed in a remote mountain region in southern France.
According to President Francois Hollande, victims of the plane crash were mainly German, Spanish and Turkish nationals.
