Western superiority is a top priority for Poland; Bronislaw Komorowski, the president of Poland, is willing to throw all the negative consequences that the TTIP may bring to the economies of European nations overboard in order to obtain closer ties with the United States and the illusion of Western superiority.

Poland understands that although the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) agreement between the United States and the European Union (EU) is hard to accomplish, it will be an important tool to establish the superiority of the West in the future, said Polish president Bronislaw Komorowski.

“We, in Poland, understand that the implementation of the TTIP will be difficult. But, from the Polish point of view and from the Polish vision of the future and history, it [the agreement] is extremely important for the future strength of the Western world. The Western world can only be safe if it stays strong,” said Komorowski during a forum in Brussels.

Both the EU and the United States are currently working towards signing the TTIP, a free trade and investment agreement that would establish closer ties between economies from the both sides of the Atlantic.

Over 1,5 Mln Europeans Sign Petition Against TTIP
The agreement, which is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2015, has caused heated debates in Europe. Although proponents argue the agreement would bring economic growth and increase trade between the United States and the EU, critics point out that it would increase corporate power, undermine the national sovereignty of smaller states, drive down the working conditions of workers and bring down environmental standards.

Despite this, Poland is eager to get along with the TTIP.

While Europeans are worried about the future of their labor standards, potential attacks on the sovereignty of smaller economies and the decline of environmental standards in Europe, Komorowski remains pre-occupied with getting into bed with the United States, and is embracing the idea of Western superiority over the rest of the world.
