Ukrainian Minister of Culture Vyacheslav Kyrylenko promised "financial incentives" to Ukrainian television channels and radio stations that create and show production supporting "Ukrainian achievements," a press release published on the Ukrainian government's website said Tuesday.

"Our channels have already responded to requests from our society; the amount of outright propaganda coming from the country which has unleashed aggression against Ukraine has declined. Aggressive militaristic Russian series are being removed from the air. Therefore, we face a big challenge –to fill our television and radio with quality Ukrainian production of a varying character," Kyrylenko said in the statement.

The minister noted that "for its part, the government is ready to make efforts to organize the most comfortable working partnership with those channels that are ready to take responsibility upon themselves to change the broadcast environment in the aims of propagating our Ukrainian achievements." Kyrylenko noted that the government was willing to offer a limited variety of "financial incentives" to those channels and radio stations which would fill the airwaves with these pro-Ukrainian materials.

Earlier this month, Ukraine's parliament narrowly passed a project "On the Amendment of Some Laws of Ukraine Concerning the Protection of the Television and Radio Informational Space of Ukraine", whose ostensible aim was to ban the showing of informational materials considered to harm the informational security of the country, including the glorification of the Russian military. The law, awaiting signing by the country's president, stipulates fines for television channels and radio stations that circumvent the ban. It's worth noting the the ban includes all Russian films produced after January 1, 2014, but not those produced prior to 1991 in Soviet times. Earlier, a Ukrainian expert commission banned the showing of 71 films and serials involving Russian actor Ivan Ohlobystin, and another 69 featuring actor Mikhail Porechenkov.
