MOSCOW (Sputnik) Moscow has called Lithuania's announcement of providing Kiev with weapons a provocation that undermines the efforts of settling the situation in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said Tuesday.

"Vilnius's flagrant militaristic course in the internal conflict in Ukraine is not secret to anyone. The Lithuanian leadership has currently confessed openly that it is providing weapons support to the 'party of war' in Kiev, which causes grave concern," Lukashevich said.

He said that Russia condemns the moves by the Lithuanian authorities. Lukashevich added that Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius admitted that Vilnius delivered weapons to Kiev on the eve of the Minsk talks on February 12.

Earlier in the day, Ukraine's presidential adviser Yuri Biryukov said the country's defense ministry compiled a list of necessary military equipment, including weapons, and sent it to the United States.

The statement followed recent reports, suggesting that Washington considers arming Ukraine.

February 12 peace talks between the leaders of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia in the Belarusian capital resulted in a number of agreements between the Kiev-led forces and Donbas militia.

As part of the deal hammered out by the four leaders, the warring sides agreed to establish ceasefire and withdraw heavy artillery from the line of contact.
