MOSCOW, November 28 (Sputnik) — UK Prime Minister David Cameron's immigration speech shows that he has no control over the situation, the head of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) said in response to the prime minister's long-anticipated address Friday.
"One thing is true: he has absolutely zero control over the situation. He cannot control immigration from the EU," was UKIP Leader Nigel Farage reaction to the prime minister's plan to reduce net migration and cut benefits to EU migrants living in the United Kingdom.
"If this was supposed to be the speech that turned the tide of Cameron's fortunes he may well wish he had never made it," Farage said.
With anti-immigration and eurosceptic sentiment brewing in UKIP and the wider UK public, Prime Minister Cameron has recently made numerous suggestions that he would re-evaluate Britain's EU membership in an attempt to gain their support.
