No injuries have been reported.
One of the passengers told the BBC that the fire was preceded by a blast. The causes of the incident are now being investigated.
The fire has led to a major National Rail services disruption between London Charing Cross/London Blackfriars and London Bridge stations. Passengers are advised to use alternative routes, such as London Underground services, or buses.
