MOSCOW, November 22 (Sputnik), Ekaterina Blinova — A 19-year old British terror suspect has been arrested at Heathrow Airport as he returned to the UK from Jordan.

"Police have arrested a British teenager at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism, police revealed today. The 19-year-old man, from Coventry, was seized on British soil as he stepped off a flight from Jordan after landing at the airport," the Daily Mail reported.

The media outlet notes that the teen was arrested at around 3pm on Thursday, November 20, citing a spokesperson for West Midlands Police. The British suspect is being held by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit and questioned over planning a terror act – "an offence which falls under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act."

"A 19-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism. The arrest was pre-planned and intelligence led. The suspect did not pose any risk to the flight," West Midlands Police spokesperson elaborated.

The Daily Express reports that the counter terrorism unit has been observing the suspect for a long time gathering intelligence that "alleged the man may be involved in a terror threat" and preplanned his arrest at the airport.

In a separate incident this month, British police arrested a 26-year-old Bangladeshi in the small town of Hayle, Cornwall, citing the same charges.

"A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism, under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act. The arrest was pre-planned and was not made in response to any immediate threat to public safety in Hayle," a spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said, as quoted by the Daily Express.

According to police sources, the arrest of the Bangladeshi was directly linked to his activities "over the internet in connection to terrorism in Syria," the Daily Mail revealed.
