The United States plans to invest some $125 million to fund more than 40 cutting-edge energy technology projects ahead of the UN climate conference in Paris next week, the US Department of Energy announced in a statement.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The 41 projects will include developing a high efficiency alkaline water electrolyzers for grid scale energy storage, as well as new capabilities to reduce the cost of cross-flow design marine hydrokinetic systems where turbines help to generate power from tides and rives.

“The ARPA-E [Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy] projects selected today highlight how American ingenuity can spur innovation and generate a wide range of technology options to address our nation’s most pressing energy issues,” US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz said in the statement on Monday.
