15:43 GMT 06.05.2016 (Updated: 15:44 GMT 06.05.2016) Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu confirmed that he would step down from his post. However, it's not clear what's really behind his decision.
Some experts believe Davutoglu decided to resign due to pressure from President Erdogan. Reports appeared in the media suggesting the two politicians' rift over plans to move the country to a more presidential system of government.
"I believe PM Davutoglu's decision will be for the better of Turkey and our nation," Erdogan was quoted as saying by the Daily Sabah's English-language Twitter account.
