Moscow hopes that OPEC will reach an agreement on oil output freeze to stabilize prices.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia hopes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) overcomes internal disagreements and achieves compromise on an oil output freeze to stabilize prices, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said after meeting his Algerian counterpart Friday.

"Of course, if OPEC comes to a consensus, we are ready to join in the review of specific proposals on the oil production freeze. We hope that the differences within OPEC will be overcome in the near future and compromise will be found," Novak told reporters.

He said OPEC member states are expected to renew talks on a possible oil output freeze with non-member states at the September 26-28 International Energy Forum (IEF) in Algiers, Algeria.
