MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Former French Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron, who resigned earlier the week, slammed President Francois Hollande’s government for not doing enough to implement further economic reforms in the country, in an interview published Sunday.
"I never stopped making attempts, proposals… You cannot leave things half done of you want to succeed but unfortunately we left many things half done. The choice was made not to start the second phase of economic reforms that I proposed in the NOE [new economic opportunities] draft law," he told Le Journal du Dimanche.
There was media speculation that the move was timed to clear the way for a presidential bid, as Macron said in his resignation speech that he wanted to begin a new chapter in political struggle and bring changes to France "already next year."
