MOSCOW (Sputnik) On February 29, Lavrov is expected to visit Algeria to meet to meet country's leadership and to discuss a number of issues and agreements, including the intergovernmental one on cooperation in the nuclear sphere signed in 2014.

"Within the framework of it's implementation, a meeting of the bilateral committee on the coordination in the sphere of peaceful use of the nuclear energy is scheduled. During this meeting the possibilities to construct Russia-designed nuclear power station on the Algerian territory, development of Algeria's nuclear infrastructure and non-energy use of the nuclear technologies, for example in medicine, are expected to be discussed," Lavrov said in an interview with the Algerian L'Еxpression newspaper.

Moscow is one of the world leaders in the sphere of NPP construction. At the moment, Russia's Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, which incorporates hundreds of enterprises and nuclear institutions, is constructing 41 nuclear reactors with 34 of them abroad in Belarus, India, Vietnam and China.
