KUALA LUMPUR (Sputnik) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Razak met earlier in the day on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

Razak noted the "good, stable" relations with Russia particularly in such spheres as space and defense, and stressed that he saw a "large potential" for their development.

"We see a possibility of including new spheres such as education and science, we are counting on the Russian technology in the space exploration sphere," Razak said.

The 10th East Asia Summit (EAS), attended by representatives of 18 different countries, including ASEAN member states and Russia among others, is taking place in Kuala Lumpur. Medvedev is representing Russia at the event.

The parties plan to discuss global security, as well as financial and economic stability and energy cooperation. The states are also expected to sign a declaration and joint statements.
