MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Nord Stream-2 is aimed at providing Europe with energy resources, and not at depriving anyone of transit opportunities, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday, urging to avoid political speculation on the matter.
"It [the project] is aimed at ensuring the energy needs of, first of all, Northern Europe, considering the decreasing production in the United Kingdom in Norway, and the simultaneously increasing energy demand in this part of Europe. It is absolutely not aimed at depriving someone of transit opportunities, and I would like to ask to put aside these political speculations," Putin said at an investment forum in Moscow.
