Russia to Present New Instruments for Far East Development in Vladivostok
VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — The first day of the Eastern Economic Forum taking place in the Russian city of Vladivostok ended on Thursday with 32 contracts signed and a dozen of roundtables and thematic sessions held.

The 32 contracts signed on the first day included memorandums on cooperation, agreements of intent and fixed contracts between Russian governmental agencies, such as the administration of the Primorsky Territory and Sakhalin Region, Russia's Sakha Republic (Yakutia), and federal agencies, such as the Federal Agency for Tourism and the Federal Forestry Agency, with business organizations from Russia and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

A total of 72 agreements is expected to be signed during the next two days of the forum.

The forum organizers noted the high level of interest in the event, as initially less than 1,000 participants were expected, but as of August 27, about 4,000 applications to attend had been submitted.

High-ranking Russian officials, including Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev and Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Galushka gave speeches during the event.
