Russia to Consider Extension of Gas Package for Ukraine - Kremlin Spokesman
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia’s energy giant Gazprom has turned to the Russian government with Ukraine’s request of possibly allowing Naftogaz a discount on energy deliveries for the second quarter of 2015, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said Monday.

“Today, Gazprom has sent a letter to the Russian government with a request to consider the issue of giving a discount for gas deliveries to Ukraine for another three months. We believe a three-month term to be optimal,” Miller said on Rossiya-24 television.

Miller reiterated that the current gas deal with Kiev with a $100 discount per 1,000 cubic meters expires on March 31.

Russia Sent Over 300Mln Cubic Meters of Gas to Donbass Since Mid- February
Under the so-called winter package deal mediated by the European Union and signed by Gazprom and Naftogaz in 2014, Kiev is now paying $329 per 1,000 cubic meters of Russian gas.

Earlier this month, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Moscow will decide on the possibility of a gas price discount for Ukraine over the amount of customs duty by the end of March.

Novak added that if the discount is approved, it would cover deliveries in the second quarter of 2015 only, and then it would be reviewed due to price volatility on global markets.
