The vehicles are believed to have a faulty camshaft, which is considered a safety hazard as it could cause engine failure while in motion.

Porsche will recall 14,571 vehicles in mainland China due to a faulty camshaft Chinese news agency Xinhua reports.

China's quality watchdog, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, announced that the recall will impact imported Porsche Cayenne and Panamera models made between 2009 and 2011, according to the agency.

The faultiness of the camshaft is considered a safety hazard because of the possibility that a tap bolt will loosen or break, causing engine failure while the vehicle is in motion.
