MOSCOW, January 24 (Sputnik) — The government of Japan has agreed to host a special World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting, intended to bring together 2,000 leaders across the globe, the organization said in a statement Saturday.

“We would like to establish an effective organization of the Special Meeting in Japan and will be working with the World Economic Forum towards that goal,” Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Hakubun Shimomura said during the ongoing 2015 WEF in Davos, Switzerland, according to the statement.

Shimomura added that he hoped the future event would unite leaders toward building a more peaceful society “based on shared values.”

The Special Meeting is scheduled for 19 to 22 October, 2016. It is expected to be attended by representatives from the arts, culture, business, government, education and the civil society, as reported by the WEF.

The 2015 WEF running from January 21 to 24, has been attended by global leaders, engaging in strategic dialogue on rekindling economic integration and international partnerships.
