"Through the Western route we are receiving some 26-28 million cubic meters of gas daily instead of 42 million cubic meters," Yildiz said. "Naturally, we are not happy about it. We need to restore the level of deliveries."
The Turkish minister noted that this is a pressing problem in Turkey as the peak winter gas season approaches.
"Turkey should not fall victim to the political issue, I mean the issue connected with the EU and Ukraine," the minister said.
On Wednesday, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Turkey had expressed its desire to increase the volume of gas deliveries through the Blue Stream pipeline to three billion cubic meters annually, adding that both countries were keen on completing the project. Yildiz noted that Turkey had no problems with deliveries via Blue Stream.
In October, Russia and Turkey agreed to increase the flow of gas through the Blue Stream pipeline from 16 to 19 billion cubic meters a year.
