New Delhi (Sputnik) – A decision to relax the curfew affecting the India-controlled portion of the Kashmir Valley was made on Sunday during a high-level security meeting, which followed a larger discussion involving both national and state government officials.

On Kashmir, reaffirmed that any life lost, be it of a youngster or security personnel, is India’s loss & we all feel deeply anguished.

Despite the relaxation, some of the Muslim opposition leaders within the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir who want independence from India have continued to protest and have encouraged others to join them in shutting down the state until September 1.
Modi seems to suggests someone somewhere should do something about the terrible events in Kashmir. Not him of course, he is just the PM.

However, the valley remains calm despite three incidents where protesters threw rocks at security personnel. The police responded by firing pellet guns at them, causing minor injuries to more than 3 dozen people. More than 570 people have sustained serious injuries after being shot in the eye with pellet guns since the start of the ongoing unrest.
To date, 71 people, including three civilians, have been killed and more than 8,500 injured in clashes between police and rioters. Protests began when a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Burhan Wani, was killed on July 8 in an encounter with security forces.
