New Delhi (Sputnik) — The Supreme Court Woman Lawyer's Association said that no one should be allowed to have free access to porn sites and that those desperate to watch it should be made to pay a higher amount which could both act as a deterrent and simultaneously generate revenue for the government.

The Supreme Court Woman Lawyer's Association became a party in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by attorney Kamlesh Vaswani and submitted the suggestions to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court Woman Lawyer's Association also suggested to the Supreme Court that rehabilitation centers be established across India for those addicted to porn. It also asked to completely block eight of the most popular porn sites.

Earlier, at the request of the Supreme Court Woman Lawyer's Association, the apex court had asked the Indian government to find out ways and means to block pornography on the Internet and criminalize watching porn in public.

The Supreme Court Woman Lawyer's Association believes that the increasing instances where drivers and conductors indulge in molestation and sodomy are due to easy access to porn sites.

"Limited access to porn sites may be carried out under certain conditions like instead of making payment to the service provider, a hefty amount would be paid to the government of India and it will restrict the viewership," the affidavit filed by the Supreme Court Woman Lawyer's Association said.

An affidavit filed by the SCWLA Secretary Prerna Kumari also said that, "The government should make a security payment gateway before allowing any person to view porn online. Also, before the payment, details like the viewer's name, address, and contact number should be verified and only after the completion of such details, should the payment be allowed."

The Supreme Court is hard on pornography and is exploring the possibility of banning citizens from watching pornographic materials in any form in public places.

Pornographic viewership has reached enormous proportions in India and it has been argued that increasing instances of rape and molestation are due to pornography. Even Indian lawmakers have been caught watching pornography during assembly sessions.
