Building Collapse in Western India Kills at Least 6, Traps Over Dozen in Debris

Collapse of a two-storied building killed at least six people and trapped up to 20 more in the debris in the Indian town of Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, on Sunday, local media reported.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — The building occupied by at least eight families as an apartment house was earlier declared unfit to live in, The Indian Express said, citing Bhiwandi Nizampur civic chief E Ravindra.

The rescuers have released some 10 people from under the wreck so far and took them to hospital for treatment, the newspaper added.
