MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a heavy explosion took place in the Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area of Kabul, where the Afghan Ministry of Defense is located. The blast reportedly left six people dead.

Head of the Public Health Ministry's media department Ismael Kawosi confirmed that 198 people were injured in the explosion, According to TOLOnews. The channel's correspondent published a list of the victims' names on his Twitter account.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said earlier the explosion had targeted the offices of the country's main security agency.
